Welcome Noodle to the family! He's a 4 month old Schnoodle (cross between a Schnauser and a Poodle).
They tell me he's a "designer" breed. As it turns out, the dog breeders have figured out how to capitalize on what everyone used to call a "mutt". "Designer breed" leaves me feeling like he's a dog with expectations. Aspirations of jewel encrusted collars, Louis Vuitton tote, a steady diet of salon grooming and Three Dog Bakery gourmet snacks.
Fortunately, Noodle came to us from the sale rack. Now mind you, the pet store where I found him is precisely one of these high-end places where ultra-tanned women with lots of artificial parts bring their dogs for gourmet snacks and jewel encrusted sweaters. Clearly this was no place for our Noodle. Our Noodle is small but scrappy and would happily kick the collective rears of the frou-frou lap trophies prominent in this store.
So far, so good. No accidents, no yapping, and I don't sense any sadness from the lack of jewelry or clothing.
